JOHN MATKOVICH


John E. Matkovich, 83, Westmoreland Health Center, Waukesha, formerly of Willard, Clark County, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 1994, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, 1994, at St. Mary's Good Shepherd Chapel, Burlington. Interment will be at a later date in Holy Family Cemetery, Willard.


John E. Matkovich was born on Oct. 7, 1911, in Virginia, Minn., to Martin and Theresa (nee Kocyan) Matkovich. He was a retired electrical engineer, having worked for Northern States Power Co., until 1955, then with Puget Sound Power Light Co. in Bellevue, Wash., until retiring as asst. Supt. Of the Light Power in 1973. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in the Pacific Theater. For the past five years, He had resided in Waukesha.


Survivors include two sisters, Ann Gander, Dallas, Texas and Marie (Leonard) Rauen, Burlington one brother, Martin Matkovich, Stevens Point his former wife, Albina Oblack Matkovich, Bellevue, Wash. and nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents one brother, Louis Matkovich and one sister, Emelia Bertrand.


McCarthy-Koenig Funeral Home, Burlington, assisted the family with arrangements.
