VILAS EMBERSON (1911 - 1995)
Vilas Emberson, 83, Eau Claire, died Monday, Jan. 30, 1995,
at the Clairemont Nursing Facility. A memorial service was held at
11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 1995, at Salem Baptist Church, Eau
Claire.
Vilas Emberson was born on Dec. 25, 1911, to John and Dena
Emberson, in Roshalt, S.D. His parents moved to Greenwood, Clark
County, in 1920, where Vilas attended Greenwood High School. He
married Gertrude Schmidt on June 7, 1946. He worked for his
brother-in-law at Grassland Dairy Products and farmed in Greenwood
for 30 years. He retired from farming in 1977 and moved to
Harrison, Ark., until ill health caused him to return to Eau Claire
in 1988.
Survivors include his wife two sons, Terry Emberson, Loganville and
John Emberson, Eau Claire nine grandchildren and one sister,
Eulilla Nelson, Spooner.
He was preceded in death by his parents one brother, Dale and two
sisters, Naomi and Ragnhild.
The Cremation Society of Wisconsin assisted the family with
arrangements.
