ESTHER SKOOG (1907 - 1995)
Esther Elna Skoog, 87, formerly of Loyal, Clark County, died
Sunday, Feb. 5, 1995, at Colonial House Nursing Rehabilitation
Center, Colby.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 1995,
at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. Rev. Joseph Kraly officiated.
Burial was in the Loyal Lutheran Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dale Luchterhand, Debbie Luchterhand, LaVerne
Kronberger, Ronald Hofmann, Art Olsen, and Harold Dahl.
Esther Elna Hofmann was born March 4, 1907, in Dorchester, to
Reinhold and Anna (nee Schrader) Hofmann. She received her
education in Dorchester.
After school, she worked for her brother, Ed Hofmann, in his cheese
factory in Colby. She married Ben Skoog on Sept. 4, 1926, in
Chicago, Ill. They moved back to Dorchester in 1934 and farmed
until moving to Loyal in 1944. The later moved to Greenwood in the
early 1960's and farmed until 1986. After retiring from the farm,
they moved back to Loyal. Her husband preceded her in death on Aug.
5, 1991. She had resided in Loyal until entering the nursing home
in 1991. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth (Melvin) Luchterhand, Loyal
and Betty Jane Skumautz, Holiday, Fla. Seven grandchildren 15
great-grandchildren one great-great-grandson and one sister, Freada
Schulze, Cook, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her husband her parents two sisters
and three brothers.
Rinka Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
