Bernard Clement Wehe

Clem Wehe died on September 28th, 2008 in Santa Barbara California.  He was surrounded by his loving children.  Bernard Clement Wehe was born on August 14th, 1918 to Boniface and Anna (Weber) Wehe on their farm in Loyal, Clark County Wisconsin.  He helped his father and brothers on the farm until at the age of 20 in 1938 he went to Wilmette Illinois where he worked at the Motherhouse of the Sisters of Christian Charity where his sister Louise was studying.  In March of 1941 he was drafted into the US Army.  His basic training was with a horse mounted company in Campo California.  He trained in tanks in Georgia and was assigned to US Army - Tenth Armored Division, 11th Tank Battalion.  He was shipped overseas and landed after D-Day in France in late 1944.  His Battalion was in the Battle of the Bulge.  Clem was awarded the Bronze Star for Bravery by the US Army for his actions in Germany in February 1945.

After his discharged from the Army in 1946 he returned home to spend time with his family and visit the parents of a friend who was killed in the war.  In September of 1947 seeking warmer weather he went to California with two friends.  In March 1948 Clem joined the Franciscan Brothers where he used his many talents to make and fix things for 21 years.  His last and longest assignment was at St. Anthony’s Seminary in Santa Barbara California.

In June of 1972 Clem married Sheila Schirm Bohnett in Santa Barbara California.  She was a widow with thirteen children.  Clem spent the rest of his life as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  Sheila died in October 2003 married to Clem for 31 years.  He was never quite the same after her death.  She was the love of his life.

Clem was a talented man.  He could fix almost anything.  He was known for the many things he made from wood especially clocks which he often gave to family members as gifts.  He was a man of faith.  He attended Mass almost daily.  He shared a love of the Rosary with his wife Sheila.  When he died his family was with him saying the Rosary.

Besides his wife Sheila, Clem was preceded in death by his brothers John, Wilfred and Gene and his sister Louise (Sister Imelda) Wehe.  He is survived by his brother Jerome Wehe of Loyal Wisconsin and his thirteen children - Harriet Roberts, Kathleen Molloy, Mary Jo Williams, Joe Bohnett, John Bohnett, Floyd Bohnett, Jerome Bohnett, Matt Bohnett, Tony Bohnett, Danny Bohnett, Theresa Coronado, Claire Mon, and Dominic Bohnett, numerous loving grandchildren and great grand children.  He will be greatly missed by all especially his nephew and niece Al and Peggy Wehe of Kingwood Texas.
