BETSY STREIGHT (1804 - 1882)
Died in Neillsville, Clark County, Wis., Feb. 17th, 1882, at the
residence of her daughter, Mrs. Levi Archer, after a lingering
illness, Mrs. Betsy Streight, age seventy-eight years.
Mrs. Streight was born in the state of New York, and had been for
many years a resident of this county. She was the mother of ten
children, two of which reside at this place, while two others
reside in Jackson County. Four of her children had gone before, two
of whom, Mrs. Arnold and Mrs. Green, rest in the Neillsville
Cemetery. Mrs. Streight was a kind mother, and a true friend, loved
and honored down to her old age.
Her funeral was attended on Sunday last from the Presbyterian
Church of this village. Many besides the sorrowing family will feel
the loss of one who had tried so long to be a blessing to all
around her. Thus one after another the aged ones of our homes pass
away, and thus are we constantly reminded that life at best is
short.
