Larson, Lief (10 NOV 1894 - 17 SEP 1960)

 

Last rites were conducted by the Rev. Robert Olson at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the city at ten o’clock Monday morning, Sept. 19th for Lief Larson, 65, who passed away of a heart ailment at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, Sept. 16th, 1960, where he had reported for a checkup just the day before.  His illness was of several months duration and was originally brought on by a heart attack.

 

Mr. Larson was owner and operator of the Larson’s Feed Store here for many years and served as supervisor from the first ward of the City of Thorp on the Clark County Board.  He was a World War I veteran and member of the Clark County 40 et 8 Voiture and past commander of Cecil Tormey Post No. 118 of the American Legion.  He retired from business last fall, leaving the feed store in the hands of his son, Peter.

 

Mr. Larson was born in Chippewa Falls on Nov. 10, 1894.  He grew to manhood there and was united in marriage to Anna Zinsli there on Aug. 11, 1920.

 

Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Peter of Thorp and Cap. Thomas P. Larson of Hampton, Virginia, three daughters, Elaine, Mrs. Bill Lampert, Yorktown, Va., Kathleen, Mrs. E.R. Christle, Iowa City, Iowa, and Miss Ann Larson of Minneapolis, three sisters, Mrs. …(the next portion of my copy was unreadable).

 

Military honors were accorded the deceased by members of Cecil Tormey Post of the American Legion, with services at the graveside and a salute by the Clark County 40 et 8 Voiture members of Greenwood, Wis.  Interment took place in Forest Hill Cemetery at Chippewa Falls, Wis.  Pallbearers were Thorp Legion Post members, Thos. Polnaszek, Wilfred Vanderhyden Sr., John Barth, Wm. S. Wagner, Harry Smith and Stanley Glamkowski.
