Richmond, Jesse William, Sr. (7 May 1899 - 19 February 1966)

 

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Christie Methodist Church for Jesse W. Richmond, Sr., 66, of Rt. 3 Neillsville, who died Saturday in St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn. The Rev. Carl Booher of the Greenwood Methodist Church officiated.  Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

 

Jesse William Richmond was born May 7, 1899 in Sheboygan County.  His parents were the late Fayette and Harriett (Higby) Richmond. In 1900 his parents moved to Clark County to a farm in the Christie area, where Mr. Richmond attended the Eaton School.  As a young man he worked in the harvest fields in the western states.

 

He was married in January, 1926, to Agnes Schwieger of Loyal, who died in 1931.  His second marriage too place August 13, 1932, to Edna M. Cassity, in Winona, Minn. He had farmed in the Town of Weston since 1938.

 

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Jesse Richmond, Jr., of Granton and Donald Richmond of Rt. 3 Neillsville; three sisters, Mrs. Viv Carteron and Mrs. Florence Schwarze of Greenwood, and Mrs. Eunice Froelich of Beaver Dam; two brothers, William of Rt. 3, Neillsville, and Harry of Chippewa Falls; and six grandchildren.

 

Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home.

Funeral services were conducted February 22 for Jesse W. Richmond, Sr., of rural Neillsville, who died on February 19.  The Rev. Carl Booher of the Greenwood Methodist Church officiated at the services held from the Christie Methodist Church.  Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

 

Mrs. Donald Schultz and Mr. Richmond’s grandchildren, Barbie, Karen, Carole and Kathie, sang "In The Garden," "Saved By Grace," and "Rock of Ages" accompanied by Mrs. Grant Slone.

 

Pallbearers were Donald Acheson, Donald Afkind, Ed Silkey, John Ormond, Albert F. Zank and Everett Shaw.

Crosue of Oak Lawn, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Grutzmacher of Justice, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Carrey and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Honel of Tomah; Mr. and Mrs. James Orth and Mrs. Nora Bowen of Mineral Point; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Dittman and Mrs. Cyril Spangler of Watertown; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Schwarze and Mr. and Mrs. J.
