Tomczak, Frances Angeline (10 November 1917 - 4 April 2012)

Frances A. Tomczak, age 94, of Thorp, passed away on April 4, 2012, at Miller Alternative Care in Thorp. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2012, at St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin. Rev. Marion Talaga officiated and burial followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Frances’ great-grandchildren.  Visitation was held at the church, on Saturday, from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Frances Angeline Orzechowski was born on November 10, 1917, in the Township of Withee, to Michael and Angeline (Dombkiewicz) Orzechowski. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at Sunny Lawn School. Frances was united in marriage to Casmer Tomczak on June 24, 1939, at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp. They farmed in the Town of Thorp until her husband’s death in May of 1984.  Frances continued to live on the farm until moving to Thorp in 1994.

She had many interests, but especially enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting and picking God’s good creations: mushrooms, blueberries, blackberries and apples.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin.

Frances is survived by her son, George (Betty) Tomczak of Cadott; three grandchildren: Katherine (Roger) Clark, Susan (Jon) Sarauer, and Richard (Sarah) Tomczak; seven great-grandchildren; Nicole Sarauer, Brittney Sarauer, Craig Tomczak, Amanda Tomczak, Brett Clark, Brandon Clark and Dylan Clark; and two great-great-grandchildren: Ethyne and Adian; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Casmer; three brothers John, Tom and Sylvester in infancy; three sisters: Agnes Dombrowski, Sophie Balnis and Harriet Teunis; and her step-brother: Nick Kurtinaitis.
