Chapman, Rev. Leo J. (3 January 1894 - 15 February 1966)

 

The Rev. Leo J. Chapman, 72, died of a heart attack February 15, at his home in Greenwood. Services were conducted Friday from the Free Methodist Church in Loyal, with the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial was made in the Loyal Cemetery.

 

The Rev. Mr. Chapman was born January 3, 1894, in Webster, S. D.  He served in World War I from May 1, 1917, until August of 1919.  On August 24, 1919, he was married to Blanche Seufer in St. Paul, Minn.

 

He was employed as a barber in Aberdeen, S. D., or 24 years, and in 1930 enrolled at the Bible Institute in St. Paul, Minn.  He was ordained in 1935 at the Christian Missionary alliance Church.  Mr. Chapman had served congregations in Spokeville and Vila Lake, Wis., and Angus, Nebr., before coming to Neillsville in 1946.

 

In 1952 they moved to Loyal and six months ago came to Greenwood.  He was a member of the Free Methodist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

 

In addition to his wife survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Alex (Gladys) Ivanoff of Portland, Ore.; a son, Leo, Jr. of Rock Island, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers.
