Humbird (24 February 1966)

Mrs. Norman Nibbe and Vicki of Gary, Ind., came Wednesday and Mrs. Steve Kushneruk of Gary, Ind., came Thursday to be at the Cullen Dignin home until Saturday.  Friday Mr. and Mrs. Dignin and their guests attended the funeral of Roy Hart in Eau Claire.

Mr. and Mrs. Everett Senske and boys of St. Paul were weekend guests at the Archie Kirby home.

Mr. and Mrs. Hal Russell of Sparta called Sunday evening at the home of his mother, Mrs. Maude Newton.

Mrs. Christine Hanson, who has been with her daughter, Mrs. Dewey Walker, is now in her own home and able to be about the house.

Henry Spielman of St. Croix came Thursday to spend several days at the Archie Kirby home.

World Day of Prayer will be held in Fairchild Friday for the Fairchild-Humbird charge of the Methodist Church.

The benefit card party for Don Boettcher held in Alma Center Friday night was well attended. Mr. Boettcher is slowly improving.

Pvt. Charles Joos and his sister, Miss Susie Joos, were callers Monday night at the Newton home.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mathews of Black River Falls spent Wednesday evening at the Gordon Gearing home.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Prock of Neillsville and children spent Sunday evening with Mrs. Christine Hanson.

Mrs. Maude Newton was a dinner guest Sunday at the Thane Joos home in Alma Center.

Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Gearing of Alma Center were supper guests Sunday at the Gordon Gearing home.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe left early Saturday morning to visit at the home of her sister, Mrs. Kurt Schiel, in Green Bay.

Mrs. Freida Zerbel accompanied her brother, Max Schenk, and his wife, to Neillsville one day recently.

Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Newell and family were dinner guests Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Fitzpatrick.  In the afternoon, Mrs. Newell called on her mother, Mrs. Gertrude Pechtold.

Mr. and Mrs. Levi Fitzmaurice were in Fairchild Saturday to call on his sister, Mrs. Ida Campbell.

Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett were dinner guests Sunday at the Dale Mauer home in rural Black River Falls.  In the afternoon, the men decided to go to the ice-fishing contest at Melrose.  Mr. Pickett won a second prize, which was one-half of a good sized pig.

Scott Gearing is back in school after a bout with the red measles.

Mr. and Mrs. Levi Fitzmaurice were business callers in Neillsville Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Willis Johnson and children of Appleton came Wednesday, Mrs. Johnson and children to be in the Ted Polege home while Mr. Johnson made a business trip to Minneapolis.  They returned home Sunday.

Mrs. Tillie Zimmerman of Des Plaines, Ill. is making an indefinite visit with her sister, Miss Elsie Jahn.

Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Fitzmaurice were supper guests Monday of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Fitzmaurice of Alma Center.

Little Lisa Wright of Tomah is visiting her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Terrell.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Johnson and children visited at the Willard Johnson home near Alma Center, Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. George Michels and Carl of Alma Center visited Sunday at the Lewis Fitzmaurice home.

A caller Monday afternoon at Mrs. Maude Newton’s home was her old friend, Mrs. Mary Counsell, who doesn’t get over from Neillsville very often.

The American legion and Auxiliary are sponsoring a card party to be held March 16 in the Legion Hall.

Mr. and Mrs. William Theiler report the birth of their 13^th grandchild, a son, David Kent, to their daughter and son-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Eugene Koplitz of Greeley, Colo., on February 14.
