The Happy Hour Homemaker Club will meet next Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Arthur Anderson. Mrs. Neva Aeschbacher and Mrs. Emma Gerber will present the lesson on "Herbs and Spices".
Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Newell were at the Kenneth Fitzpatrick home in Black River Falls Saturday to see their daughter after her recent car accident. She was badly shaken and shocked and very thankful it was no worse, and that two of the children escaped injury. The baby was bruised some.
Many attended the ice fishing contest Sunday at Fairchild. Mrs. Alma Kaufman, we hear, won the boat.
The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sheffer were sorry to hear of the death of her father, Clifford Thompson of La Crosse, last week Wednesday. Mrs. Sheffer has been with her mother, and Mr. Sheffer brought her home Sunday.
Friday, Mrs. Rudy Aeschbacher, Mrs. Leland Duxbury, Mrs. Leo Janke and Mrs. Daniel Simonson attended the Jackson County Homemakers craft and art show in Black River Falls. Mrs. Daniel Simonson displayed crewel embroidery. She is a member of the Happy Hour Homemaker Club. From the Fairview club, Mrs. Nelva Prindle and Mrs. Millie Trachsel illustrated the Art of torch painting. These clubs are in rural Humbird. The large number of people attending attests to the interest of the Jackson County clubs in these most worthwhile projects.
Mrs. Henry Laffe, Heart Fund chairman, wishes to thank all who contribute to the heart fund and all who helped. The helpers were: Mmes. Lewis Fitzmaurice, Dewey Lange, Gordon Gearing, Lottie Flynn, Don Zerbel, Edith Smith, Lyle Prindle, August Kaufman, Melvin Markham, Mr. Cullen Dignin and Mr. Nordahl Fristad. One hundred twenty-five dollars was collected and turned over to the County chairman.
Roy Rush of Black River Falls and Henry Stanley are spending a week at the Gaylord Stanley home in Beresford, S. D. When they return, Mrs. Rush will come home with them after spending a couple of weeks with her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Stanley.
Mr. and Mrs. Hilliard Russell and daughter, Mrs. Robert Huxsahl of Minneapolis and Mr. and Mrs. Archie Nelson of Eau Claire, were dinner guests Tuesday at the Newton home. In the afternoon they and Mrs. Newton drove to Sparta to attend the funeral, of their brother and son, Hallen E. Russell.
Mrs. Emma Gerber was a dinner guest Sunday at the Donald Boettcher home.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Greub of Ames, Ia., came Thursday to spend until Monday or Tuesday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Greub.
Randy Stanley spent the weekend at home from his school work in River Falls.
Mrs. Carol Mortenson of Neillsville was here Thursday to be with her mother, Mrs. Harry Hanson, for the day.
Miss Susie Joos of Alma Center called Sunday evening at the Newton home.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Reider of Rockford, Ill., visited Sunday at the John Greub home. They attended the wedding of Jackie Laffe Saturday morning in Black River Falls.
The Woman’s Guild of St. John’s Church met at the Edwin Scholze home Thursday afternoon, with a good attendance in spite of the fog and rain.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jackson and Marilyn of Greenwood visited Sunday at the home of Mrs. Harry Hanson.
