STEVENS AT AGE OF 74

 

Ruel K. Stevens, 74, died at his home Friday, at 4:15 a.m., death being caused by a heart ailment which he had had for several years.

 

He was born in the town of Sherman Nov. 9, 1883. On Sept. 27, 1905 he was married to Stella Bowman in the town of Loyal. Until 1948 they lived on a farm in the town of Sherman, when they retired and moved into the city of Loyal.

 

He is survived by his wife; one son Stanley Stevens of Loyal; two grandchildren, James of Montello and Kathleen of Loyal; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Chauncey Stevens, Spencer; three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Austin, Granton, Mrs. Verna Gowlie, Rockford, Ill., and Mrs. Elmer (Ollie) Knickles, Appleton. One brother and one sister preceded him in death.

 

Funeral services were held in the Loyal Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Monday with burial in the Loyal Cemetery. The Rev. Wendell Bennetts officiated.

 

Pallbearers were Ross Stevens, Vernon Stevens, Edward Bowman, Harold Bechler, Fred Summers, and Harley Renne.

 

Miss Nelda Foelske sang, "Abide With Me" and "In The Garden." Mrs. Byron Zepplin was organist.

H. Knickle, Appleton; Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Warner, Nekoosa; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Schmidtke, Granton; Mrs. Pearl O'dell, and Mr.  and Mrs. Glen Eldridge, Sac City, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Summers and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Greve, Unity; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Frank, Stratford; Mrs. Lila Braun, Sheboygan; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jenson, Wis. Rapids; Harley Renne, Riverside, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bowman, Peshtigo, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bowman, Alma Center; Mrs. Arthur Rettke, Marinette; Mrs. Irene Verhagen, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Buddenhagen, and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Catlin, and Mrs. Glenn Lazotte, Neillsville, Mr. and Mrs. M.
