Misfeldt, John R. (26 JAN 1879 - 31 OCT 1960) Rev.
Cecil Ward, pastor of the Thorp Methodist Church, of which John R. Misfeldt was
a member, conducted funeral services for the deceased at 12:00 noon, Wednesday,
Nov. 2 at the Thorp Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Misfeldt, 81, passed away at the
Victory Memorial Hospital at Stanley, Wis. of a cerebral hemorrhage early Monday
morning, Oct. 31, 1960.
Harold Isenberger of Stanley sang two selections, "In the Garden" and "Beyond
the Sunset," accompanied by Mrs. Wm. Boardman on the organ. Mr.
Misfeldt was born on Jan. 26, 1879 at Jim Falls, Wis. He was united in marriage
to the former Mable Hubbard at Durand, Wis., on Sept. 12, 1912. After their
marriage they came to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), where he worked as a carpenter
for a number of years, when they moved on a farm in the town of Worden, which
they operated for forty years. He retired from farming and purchased a home in
Thorp, where they came to reside in March 1959. This was his home until death.
Surviving him are his wife, Mable, and four sons, Loren of Antigo, Wis., Clyde
and Galen of Thorp, and Roland of Withee, one brother, Fred of Glenden, Oregon,
on sister, Mrs. Ida Nippert of Minneapolis, and seven grandchildren. His
parents, four sisters and four brothers preceded him in death. He
was laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery near Withee, Wis. Pallbearers were
Casper Haas Sr., Chas. Frinack Sr., Alex Soeller, John Miller, Andrew Pawlak and
Frank Schultze.
