Amidon, Mr. and Mrs. Gene (Military News - 1966)
Mr. and Mrs. Gene Amidon and children, Daniel, Dana, Tanya, and Teresa, of Biloxi, Miss., were recent overnight guests at the Vilas Smith home. The Amidons were enroute to New York where they were to board a jet plane and fly to Amidon’s new assignment in Turkey, where they will remain two and one-half years. Amidon will be one of seven air force men in charge of Turkish communications.
Amidon is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Loren Amidon, former Alma Center residents now of Little Falls, Minn., and was graduated from Alma Center Lincoln High School with the class of 1956. He enlisted in the air force in August, 1956, and has been stationed in Alaska, South Carolina, Madison, and served in Formosa during the crisis.
He and Mrs. Amidon were married while he was stationed in Alaska. Mrs. Amidon enjoyed a week’s visit with her parents in Nome, whom she had not seen for more than eight years, prior to leaving for New York.
Amidon is Mrs. Smith’s nephew and a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ekern of Galesville.
