Washburn (24 March 1966)

 

Henry Wallace, 84, of Neillsville, former resident and assessor of this township, died Thursday after a long illness.  Several old neighbors and friends from this vicinity attended the funeral Monday.

 

Mrs. George Allbaugh entertained the Cannonville Ladies Aid last Thursday with a good attendance.  Mrs. Ernest Kuhn, Mrs. Frank Short, Mrs. Irving Stevens and Mrs. Horace Rodman were visitors.  Mrs. Horace Rodman will be hostess at the next meeting, April 21.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Wallace of Milwaukee arrived at the Clarence Reinart home Saturday noon, being called here by the death of his father, Henry Wallace. They had icy, slippery roads part of the way due to Friday night’s snow. There was rain and sleet first, turning to snow.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Wendt and daughter, Kathy, of Neillsville accompanied Lawrence Kyle to Stoughton Sunday where they spent the day with the former’s son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wendt and family. They returned home Sunday night.

 

Mr. and Mrs. William Tullis of Waukesha arrived Saturday afternoon for a visit with her brothers, Lewis and Ralph Scholtz, and their wives and Frank Scholtz, and friends in this vicinity. They also are assisting Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Scholtz with making maple syrup this week.

 

Guy Schultz visited at the Elmer Kapfer home Thursday evening.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short called Sunday afternoon at the Claude Kyle home.

 

Mrs. Art Odell was a dinner guest Tuesday at the Stanley Kosmoski home.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Carlson returned home last week Tuesday from Chicago, after spending a week with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Heintz Stark and family.  They helped their grandson celebrate his birthday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. John Reinart and family visited Sunday afternoon at the Kenneth Reinart home in Alma Center.

 

Mr. and Mrs. George Allbaugh were Sunday dinner guests at the Mrs. Ed Short home.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Vandeberg and sons of Wisconsin Rapids, and Mr. and Mrs. DeWayne Mashin and son of Necedah were Sunday evening visitors of the ladies’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams. The Mashins moved their trailer home to Tomah Monday, where he has a new job with the Conservation Department.

 

The Washburn PTA which was to have met at the school last week Friday night was postponed a week due to the bad weather and muddy roads.  Jess W. Scott is to speak.
