Washburn (14 April1966)
Mrs. Harold Hohenstein, 53, tragic victim of an episode March 14 in which she was critically wounded and her husband was killed, left the hospital in Marshfield last Thursday.
She is staying at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Charles Havlicek, Jr., in Washburn, where she is recuperating from abdominal and shoulder wounds. Mrs. Hohenstein was wounded and her husband was killed by shots from a .22 caliber rifle as they retuned home from a trip to Marshfield.
Melvin Polar, 18, who made his home as a foster child with the Hohensteins, has been charged with the murder of Hohenstein, the wounding of Mrs. Hohenstein and the kidnapping of two Neillsville High School girls. He presently is undergoing psychiatric examination in a state hospital.
