Roehl, SN Gene R. (Military Notes - 1966)
SN Gene R. Roehl is spending a 20-day leave at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Roehl, on Rt. 1 Granton. He is stationed aboard the amphibious attack transport, USS Paul Revere (a p a - 248), which has returned to their home port at San Diego, Calif., after spending eight months in the western Pacific. Paul Revere was active in transporting troops into Viet Nam. The ship and crew took part in Operations "Blue Marlin," "Hilltop III," and "Double Eagle" which the crew was awarded the Viet Nam, and the National Defense service medals. The ship also visited Okinawa, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Philippines, Taiwan and Hawaii. He was a 1964 graduate of Granton High school.
