Sommer, Otto Sr.  (26 JAN 1880 - 13 NOV 1960)

 

Otto Sommer Sr., 80, of Neenah, died at 4:40 Sunday afternoon at Theda Clark Memorial Hospital in that city, after an illness of four years.

 

Mr. Sommer was one of the first cheese makers in the Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) area and operated his factory at Reseburg.

 

Born Jan. 26, 1880, in the town of Herman, Sheboygan Co., he had been a resident of Neenah since 1948.  Prior to that, he was a cheesemaker at Thorp for 25 years.  He then operated a garage at Spencer, Wis. for 22 years.  He and his wife observed their 50th wedding anniversary in February of 1954.

 

He was a charter member of the Lions Club of Spencer, Wis.  He is survived by his wife Anna; one daughter, Mrs. Walter Stocker, Neenah; one son, Otto Jr., Neenah; one brother, Theodore Sommer, Unity; two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Laabs, Owen, Wis., and Mrs. Paul Woik, also of Owen; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  He was a member of Martin Luther Church.

 

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 o’clock from Martin Luther Church.  The Rev. Paul G. Hartwig officiated.
