Funeral services for Herbert May, town of Worden (Clark Co., Wis.), route 3,
Stanley, were held Monday morning at 9 o’clock at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in
Stanley, with Edmund Cramer officiating. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Mr.
May passed away at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley, on Wednesday. He was
born Sept. 16, 1889 in Slinger, Wis., the son of John and Anna May. At the age
of 14 he moved with his parents to the town of Worden, where he had since
resided. His marriage to Ella Anderson took place Feb. 15, 1916 in St. Anne’s
Rectory, Stanley, with Father Emer officiating.
Surviving are his wife, Ella; one son, LaVerne of St. Luis Obispo, Calif.; one
daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Bernice) Soellers of Stanley; one sister, Mrs. John
(Loretta) Cook of Bloomer; two grandchildren, Robert May of Curtiss and Don May
of St. Luis Obispo.
Acting as pallbearers were C.A. Ebben, S.N. Samuelson, Paul Haas, Charles
Anderson, Winston Wohld and Clarence Mills of Chippewa Falls. Out
of town relatives and friends attending were: LaVerne Maya nd Gerald May of San
Luis Obispo, Calif., Robert May of Curtiss, Mr. and Mrs. John Cook of Bloomer,
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Berg of Plain, Edwin Schraufnagel, Mr. and Mrs. Albert
Schraufnagel, Mrs. Roman Schmidt, Mr. and Mrs. Georg Fucht, and Mrs. Carl
Luehring, all of Mayville, Mrs. Ella Rihberg of Tomah, Mrs. Emma Wollum and Mrs.
Elsie Frye of Eau Claire, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Anderson of Owen, Mrs. L. E. Kattie,
Mr. and Mrs. C. Mills, Mrs. Kate Jasper, Mrs. Phil Sorozen, Mrs. Clayton
O’Donnell, all of Chippewa Falls; Mrs. Bernice Alletto, son Ship, and daughters
Joan, Gloria and Dixie Lee of Prospect Heights, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Armond Peters
and Joan of Curtiss; Mrs. Joe Wellner and Mrs. Paul Dahm of Boyd and Mrs. Rex
Herrick and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Herrick of Marshfield.
