Staniec, Michael (29 DEC 1882 - 15 DEC 1960)
Michael Staniec, 77, of rural Lublin, died of smoke inhalation Thursday morning,
Dec. 15, 1960, when fire destroyed his home. The fire was discovered when a
foster son left for school at 8 o’clock in the morning. Mrs.
Staniec was routed from bed and Mr. Staniec was overcome by smoke when he tried
to help her out. He was taken to the Stanley hospital, where he died the same
day. Mr.
Staniec was born in Poland on Dec. 29, 1882 and had reached the age of 77 years,
11 months and 15 days.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Martin Wachna at 10:30 a.m., Monday,
Dec. 19th at St. Mary’s Polish National Church at Lublin, and burial
was made in the parish cemetery. The
Taylor County Red Cross officials are making an appeal for clothing and
household furniture, since all of the family’s effects were lost in the fire,
which leveled the home. Mrs. Staniec, who is 70 years of age, wears a size 44.
Clothing is needed for the 16-year-old boy, whose shirt size is 18 and trousers
32 waist. The family can use dishes and furniture as well as clothing. Items
that can be carried can be brought tot eh Taylor County Courthouse and larger
items of household furnishing will be picked up. Persons having furniture
should call Mrs. Oscar Markus at Medford.
