Wegner, Benjamin A. (31 March 1882 - 7 May 1966)

 

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home for Benjamin A. Wegner, 84, Neillsville, who died here Saturday. The Rev. Oscar Nichols of the Neillsville Methodist Chruch officiated. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mr. Wegner was born March 31, 1882, in the Town of Pine Valley, the son of the Fred and Minnie (Uecker) Wegner.  He attended rural school there.  On December 28, 1903, he was married to the former Clara Beyer in Granton. She died in 1956.  In 1953 Mr. and Mrs. Wegner celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Wegner farmed for five years and then moved to Neillsville.  He was employed by the late Mr. Krumrey and Mr. Yankee on the dray line, and later worked at the American Stores Dairy Company plant and for the Clark County Highway Department.  His last employment prior to retirement was as custodian of the Neillsville Bank.

 

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Louis (Agnes) Meinholdt of Neillsville, Mrs. Truman (Alma) Pederson of rural Neillsville and Mrs. Gordon (Velda) Thur of Fairchild; a son, Carl R. Wegner of Neillsville; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  Mr. Wegner was the last of a family of five sisters and three brothers.

 

"Jesus Savior Pilot me," and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" were sung by Ellis Wall, accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

 

Pallbearers were: Warren Hemp, August Janke, Ted Linster, Darrell Raine, John Gloff and Earl Bemis.

 

People from out of town here for the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Thur and family of Fairchild; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Beyer and Mr. and Mrs. George Beyer of Merrill; William Brickheimer and Miss Arleen Brickheimer of Cable; and Mr. and Mrs. Dave Beck and Mrs. Tom Wavrunek of Milwaukee.
