Kralcik, Anton (17 SEP 1916 - 24 APR 2012)
Anton Kralcik, age 95, of Abbotsford, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at the Colonial Center in Colby. A funeral service will be held Friday, April 27, 2012, at 7:00 PM at the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery, Milan.
Anton was born September 17, 1916, to John and Veronica (Hurak) Kralcik in the
Town of Colby. Anton was a graduate of Colby High school and he spent two years
at a CCC Camp at Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin. He later was employed at a Milan area
cheese factory.
One March 8, 1941, Anton was drafted into the U.S. Army. He was sent to eastern
U.S. and on January 31, 1942, was deployed to the Central Pacific where he was
in the Anti Aircraft Search Light Battalion, Coast Artillery, radar and chemical
squad. On October 2, 1945, he returned from Iwa Jima and was honorably
discharged at Camp McCoy on October 28, 1945. Following his discharge he was
employed by G.E. in Chicago and later returned to the Milan area where he
assisted in farm work.
Residing in Abbotsford, he was a volunteer at the Abby Nutrition Center and
served as Nutrition Advisory Council Vice-President for 12 years in Abbotsford.
Anton was a member of the VFW at Wausau and presently a member of the Sawyer-Drumm
American Legion Post at Edgar.
He is survived by his sister, Margaret Fasse, his brother, Edward Kralcik, and
many nieces and nephews.
Anton is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: John Kralcik and Joseph
Kralcik; and his sisters: Marie Horacek, Anna Potts, Helen Potts, and Elizabeth
Miller.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Sawyer-Drumm Post #393 in
Edgar, Wisconsin.
The Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is assisting the family with
arrangements.
