Laniewski, Chester (30 JUL 1904 - 29 JAN 1961)
Chester Laniewski, 56, was born in Mordy, Poland on July 30, 1904 and passed
away in Chicago of a cerebral hemorrhage on Jan. 29, 1961. At
the age of three years he came to America with his parents and lived on a farm
near Lublin and later north of Gilman until 1917 when his folks bought a farm
four miles east of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).
Growing to manhood he worked in Chicago when he learned the machinist trade. He
stared in the grocery business in 1934. He was the organizer of the Lanie Bros.
Machine Sho in 1937, continuing the grocery business to a larger location on 57th
and Hedzie, and later on 59th St. He had his first stroke in July of
1955, and was a Mayo Bros. patient in the Rochester hospital and Billing’s
Hospital in Chicago. He
was married to Jean Jarocki of Thorp in Sept. 1936. He leaves to mourn, his
wife, Jean, daughters Sharon and Sandra; son Robert; brother Stanley; sisters
Marie Swirzynski and Jean Smodilla of Chicago; brothers Tony, Felix and Leon,
and mother, Sophie Laniewski of the Bateman Store near Chippewa Falls, Wis.,
three nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Ben in
1955, and his father John in 1939.
