Greenwood (9 May 1966)
Capt. And Mrs. Carl (Gladys) Ackermann and sons, Richard and James, have arrived from Kansas City, Mo., to spend a month with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Drew, and other relatives in Cedar Grove and Milwaukee. June 28 Capt. Ackermann will leave for duty in Vietnam. His wife and sons will remain in Greenwood and will reside in the Drew apartments.
All four of the Drew children spent the weekend at the home of their parents. They were: Ronald Drew of Hales Corners, Mrs. Carol Ligon and daughter, Lisa, of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Drew and children, Gary and Debra, of West Allis. Other weekend guests were Mrs. Drew’s two sisters and brothers and their families, Mrs. Gladys Barnard of Anaheim, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Elton (Susie) Dillon of Pelican Rapids, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Drew and sons, Douglas and Larry, of Viroqua, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Drew and family of Buffalo City.
A3/c Ronald Carteron, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Carteron of Greenwood, arrived from Wheeler AFB, Africa, to spend a month before leaving for Vietnam June 28.
The 85th birthday of Anton Debevec was observed at the Clark County Home for the aged, where he resides.
The W. S. C. S. met Friday afternoon in Grace Methodist Church, with Mrs. Walter Swieso presiding. Following the business meeting, the program chairman, Mrs. Robert Bartelt, gave a Sunday school lesson on the "Book of Job". A lunch was served by Mrs. Arleigh Syth, Mrs. Kathryn Ivey and Mrs. Alvin Schultz. The next meeting will be held June 17. Hostesses will be Mrs. Charles Hare, Mrs. Alma Mason, Mrs. Louis Vogel, Mrs. Hastings Baird, Mrs. Lloyd Peterson, Mrs. Wilbur Stewart and Mrs. Arthur Christie. The program chairman will be Mrs. Edgar Opdyke.
Arlyn Turnquist of Wausau, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Turnquist of Greenwood will preach the sermon Sunday, June 12, in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, when the pastor, the Rev. Arvid Myhrwold, is on vacation.
