Merrillan (9 May 1966)

 

Matt Anderson is spending several days in Altoona visiting at the Mike Hagen and Gerald Hagen homes.

 

Mrs. Emma Neilson is reported a patient in the hospital in Tomah.

 

The Phillips 66 station has been re-opened. Alvin Engum, Hixton, is the manager. He is assisted by Bernie Finch of Black River Falls and Jim Hamilton of Alma Center.

 

Mrs. Alice Orlick of Gays Mills is spending several days with her sister, Mrs. Mary Dignin.

 

Guests Saturday of Mrs. Oscar Hagen, were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Catalano of Chicago, Mrs. Mary Schneider and Bud of Eau Claire and Dick Hagen of Altoona.

 

Guests Sunday at the Robert Linder home were Mr. and Mrs. Archie Hughes and five children of West Bend, Frieda Linder of Whitehall, Elsie Linder of Chicago and Mrs. Anna Liner and Alvina of Merrillan.

 

Mrs. Ed Nichols has been transferred from the Ridgeview Nursing home in Black River Falls to the Sunset Nursing Home in Fairchild.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Demaski, Sr., of La Valle spend the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Demaski, Jr. and Linda.

 

Elsie Linde of Chicago spent Tuesday through Sunday with the Linders in Merrillan.

 

Freda McCorison spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Rucker in La Crosse and attended the high school alumni reunion in Melrose Friday evening.

 

Mrs. Lucille Van Gorden of Neillsville, Elsie Linder of Chicago, Mae Jarstad of Northfield, Frieda Linder of Whitehall and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Linder spent Saturday at the Anna Linder home.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hayden of Salem, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hayden, Jr., and David attended commencement exercises at Eau Claire State University, where their son and brother, Tom, received a Bachelor of Science degree.  Tom has accepted a position with the general adjustment bureau of Chicago, and will have his headquarters in Green Bay.

 

Mrs. Charlotte Nash accompanied the Robert Utberg family to Tomah, where they spent the day at the Glen Knutson home and attended confirmation exercises at the Lutheran church. Their granddaughter and niece, Marie Knutson, was a member of the class.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Carroll McCormick of West Los Angeles, Calif., spent several days recently as guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Anger. Carroll is a former Merrillanite and enjoyed visiting many friends here.
