Nichols, Ethel (22 June 1890 - 20 June 1966)
Mrs. Edmond Nichols, 75, died June 20 at the Black River Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
The former Ethel DeLapp was born June 22, 1890, at La Valle, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William De Lapp. Her mother died when she was 10 months old, and she was raised by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Even Oleson of Merrillan. She married Ed Nichols January 16, 1907, in Merrillan. Mrs. Nichols owned and operated a variety store in Merrillan over 10 years.
Survivors are two sons, Edmond of Portage and Willard of Brookfield, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Angeline Horton of Kenosha; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her husband died May 11 of this year.
Services were conducted last Thursday afternoon from the Merrillan Methodist Church. The Rev. Calvin Carey officiated. Interment was made in Oakwood Cemetery.
