Langreck, Bernard "Butch" John (18 December 1958 - 30 April 2012) With Flag
Master Sergeant Bernard "Butch" John Langreck, United States Air Force, (Ret.), 53, passed away April 30, 2012, at Brooke Medical Center, San Antonio, TX.
Butch is the son of Anton and Mary (Aumann) Langreck of Neillsville. He was born Dec. 18, 1958, in Neillsville. Butch graduated from Neillsville High School in 1977 and enlisted in the United States Air Force. While serving a career as a jet aircraft mechanic, he earned a master’s degree in aeronautics from Emry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida. He moved to Schertz, TX, after 22 years, retiring as a disabled veteran. He worked for Jana Corporation in Texas for a number of years when he resigned to undergo dialysis treatment.
During a tour of duty in South Korea he met the love of his life, U In OK. They were united in marriage at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville in March 1985. OK (Lisa), his wife of 27 years, survives.
In addition to his wife, Butch is survived by two sons, 1st Lieutenant Justin Francis Langreck (Brianna) and Ensign John Thomas Langreck. He is further survived by one granddaughter, Lana; his parents; three sisters, Toni (Danny) Bravener, Carolyn (Allen) Berrett, Lois (Randy) Montgomery; and one brother, Michael (Barbara) Langreck.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Francis and Marcella Langreck, and Walter and Mabel Aumann.
A Memorial Mass in his remembrance was held May 2 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Schertz, TX. A funeral service was held at the Schertz Funeral Home, May 3, followed by interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with United States Air Force honors. At Butch’s request, a saxophone player played "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" to conclude the honors ceremony.
