An Employee at a Colby Mill Loses His Life by the Bursting of a Wheel Joiner
Colby, Wis., Oct. 20 - Claude Carrington, of Grand Rapids, was instantly killed and Paul Tesmer seriously injured by the bursting of a wheel jointer at the Colby Stave and Heading company’s mill.
The force of the explosion was terrific, pieces of the jointer being thrown through the roof and sides of the mill and landing 200 and 300 feet away.
Carrington was carried through the side of the building by piece of casting that weighed nearly 200 pounds. He leaves a wife and three small children.
Tesmer will recover.
