Kammerer, Linda (Marriage - 2 July 1966)

The Evangelical United Brethren Church in Chili was the setting for the wedding Saturday uniting in marriage Miss Linda Kammerer of Marshfield, formerly of Granton, and Algene Schmidtke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schmidtke of rural Granton. The Rev. L. L. McCormick officiated at a double ring ceremony before an altar graced with bouquets of powder blue and white flowers.

Two hundred guests witnessed as Mr. Kammerer gave his daughter in marriage. She wore a floor length gown of Chantilly lace the bodice of which was designed with a scalloped Sabrina neckline. The full skirt of lace over nylon net and taffeta was styled with wide flounces in front and back, with the overskirt of lace on either side falling into a chapel sweep.  Her fingertip veil was secured to a crown of pearls and accented aurora borealis crystals. She carried a cascade bouquet of red roses and miniature white carnations, with streamers cascading from the bouquet. Tiny red roses were caught in the streamers.

Adel Anderson was her maid of honor.  Nortee Adler, Avis Moberg and Mrs. Pat Vanderwyst were bridesmaids.  The attendants were attired in powder blue sheath style, floor length formals of nylon sheer over taffeta, fashioned with bateau necklines.  Velvet ribbon and small sheer ruffles accented their empire waistlines, with small bows and streamers in the back.  They wore floral circlet headpieces enhanced with a black velvet bow from which halo veils were attached. They carried small colonial style bouquets of red garnet roses and miniature white carnations.

The groom’s attendants were Arnie Becker of Loyal, as bestman; Norman Vanderwyst, Roger Metcalfe and Ron Seybold, groomsmen. Ushers were Norm Adler of Long Beach, Cal., and Ted Metcalfe of Spencer.

Danny Johnson carried the rings on a white heart shaped satin pillow.  The flowergirl was Marie Degenhardt of Loyal, a niece of the groom.

A wedding supper was held in the York Town Hall, followed by a reception at the home of the groom.

Mr. and Mrs. Schmidtke have left on a three week wedding trip to the western states and after August 1 will reside in Waukegan, Ill, where they both will be employed.
