Schilling, Rachel P. (Marriage - 16 July 1966)

Nuptial vows were exchanged Saturday in a double ring ceremony that united in marriage Miss Rachel P. Schilling, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Schilling of Rt. 1, Chili, and Lloyd James McCormick, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Lloyd L. McCormick of Chili.

Performing the ceremony were the Rev. L. L. McCormick, father of the groom, and the Rev. Roy E. Bosserman, superintendent of the northern district of the United Brethren Church.

Vows were repeated before an altar graced with candelabras and bouquets of white and yellow gladioli, yellow and orange chrysanthemums with green ferns.  Six white satin bows with yellow chrysanthemums marked the pews.

Mr. Schilling gave his daughter in marriage.  For her wedding the bride chose a floor length Princess bridal gown of organza over taffeta, styled with a bateau neckline, long, tapered sleeves, and an A-line skirt. A large, detachable Watteau train cascaded from the back neckline. The neckline and midriff were enhanced with Alencon lace. Her bouffant veil billowed from a headpiece of pearlized orange blossoms and Peau petals.  She carried a crescent designed bouquet of yellow China chrysanthemums, white sweetheart roses and variegated ivy.

Mrs. Lowell Larson of La Crosse was her matron of honor.  Bridesmaids were Mrs. Phillip Schilling of Chili and Miss Bonnie McCormick of Chili. The attendants were attired in floor length, two toned dresses of linen, styled with bateau necklines, cap sleeves and A-line skirts.  The matron of honors was orange and yellow maize; and the second attendant’s lemon and yellow maize. Their small veils billowed from open crown pillboxes.

The junior bridesmaid, Janita Larson of La Crosse, wore a dress styled identically to that of the bride. She carried a fan-shaped bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums, baby breath and ivy with white streamers.

Ethan Larson of La Crosse, as junior groom, carried the rings on a white heart-shaped satin pillow.

The Rev. Lynn Kollath of Marshfield was the bestman.  Groomsmen were Norbert Lee of Chili, and Conrad Strait of Mauston.  Ushers were Jeff Lindow and Craig Smith, both of Chili.

Yellow and white candles, with centerpieces of white and yellow daisies, graced the tables for the buffet supper in the church dining hall attended by 300 guests.

Mr. and Mrs. McCormick are on a wedding trip to Illinois and northern Wisconsin.

The bride is a graduate of Marshfield High School and is employed in Marshfield.  Mr. McCormick is a graduate of Alma High School and is a student pastor.
