Pvt. Robert Rouse, ex-Nazi Prisoner, Reported Safe
Pvt. Robert S. Rouse, 30, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence E.
Rouse, of Stevens Point, formerly of Abbotsford, who was a German prisoner, is
safe and well, according to a letter received by his parents from an American
chaplain in Germany.
Writing on behalf of the soldier, the chaplain said that Pvt.
Rouse would write home at the first opportunity.
Private Rouse, a Ranger, was reported on March 13, 1944, as
missing in action in Italy since Jan. 30 of that year. In April 1944 the parents
received word from their son that he was a German prisoner of war. They have
heard from him since, the last letter dated Jan. 19, 1945, arriving last week.
His wife is a WAC and is stationed at San Bernardino, Cal.
