Tesmer, Eldred (08 JUNE 1921-24 APRIL 2012)
Eldred H. Tesmer, 90, Loyal, died on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Ministry Saint
Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Friday,
April 27, at St. Anthony‘s Catholic Church, Loyal. Rev. Keith Kitzhaber
officiated. Burial of cremains followed in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery.
Eldred Howard Tessmer was born on June 8, 1921, in Colby, the son of Herman and
Helen (nee Nagel) Tesmer. As a young, he moved with his family to a farm north
of Neillsville, where he received his education and graduated from Neillsville
High School in 1938. He married Shirley jean Schmitz on July 15, 1942, at Corpus
Christi Catholic Church, Bakerville. They farmed in the town of Freemont, rural
Spencer; Eldred also worked for Tesmer Construction and Berg Equipment for more
than 20 years, until retiring in 1984. After his wife’s retirement in 1985, they
moved to Phillips and resided there for 14 years. In 1999, they moved to Loyal
and have resided there since. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church
and a former member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, Chili, a former of the Chili
Lion’s Club and was active in the Phillips and Loyal senior citizens. Eldred had
many interests, but especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing
cards, woodworking, carving, hunting and fishing.
He will be dearly missed by his four children, Alan (Ellen) Tesmer, Chetek,
James (Sherry) Tesmer, Madison, Joanne Tesmer, Marshfield, and Susan (Bob)
Devine, Racine; seven grandsons; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Milford
Tesmer, Neillsville; two sisters-in-law, Goldie Tesmer, Marshfield, and Winifred
Tesmer, Florida; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, on March 21, 2011; one son,
Warren Tesmer, on Nov.1, 2007; one sister, Marion Tesmer, in infancy, and two
brothers, Robert Tesmer and Raymond Tesmer.
Eldred’s family would like to thank the staff at Neillsville Care and Rehab for
their generous and compassionate care they have provided the past two months.
