Erickson, Lena (10 May 1891 - 23
August 1966)
Mrs. Nels (Lena) Erickson, 75, died Tuesday morning in
Neillsville, following a long illness.
She was born May 10, 1891, in
Elroy, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Burdette. She married Nels Erickson
there on April 25, 1917.
Survivors are a daughter, Avis, of Minneapolis;
two sons, Gordon of Opelika, Ala., and Burdette (Bud) of Plainview, N. Y.; and
six grandchildren.
Services are pending at the Langlois-Galston Funeral
Home in Black River Falls. Burial will be made in Oakwood Cemetery at Merrillan.

Mrs. Nels Erickson, 75, died August 23, in Neillsville, following a heart
attack. She had been ill for several months and had made her home at the nursing
home there. Services were held Friday afternoon from the Merrillan Methodist
Church. The Rev. Calvin Carey officiated.
Richard Rousey sang, “The Old
Rugged Cross” and “The Lord’s Prayer,” accompanied by Karen Holmgreen. An
Eastern Star memorial service was held Thursday evening at the funeral home in
Black River Falls. Burial was made in Oakwood Cemetery, Merrillan.
Lena
Burdette was born May 10, 1891, at Elroy, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gregory
Burdette. She came to Merrillan as a young girl and was employed in Cannon’s
lunch room. She married Nels Erickson April 25, 1917, in Elroy. They made their
home in Altoona and Minneapolis for a number of years before returning to
Merrillan about 25 years ago. Mrs. Erickson was a member of the Merrillan
Chapter of the Eastern Star and the Merrillan Methodist Church and W. S. C. S.
She is survived by a daughter, Avis, of Minneapolis; two sons, Gordon,
of Opelika, Ala., and Burdette, of Plainview, N. Y.; and six grandchildren.
Those who attended the services from away, in addition to her three
children, were: Mrs. Gordon Erickson and daughter, Nancy, of Opelika, Ala.; Mr.
and Mrs. Wesley Farnsworth, and Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Parrish of Madison; Mr. and
Mrs. Ellis Burdette of Elroy; Mr. and Mrs. William Keller of Kendall; Mr. and
Mrs. Leo Burdette of Balsam Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ryan, Mr. and Mrs.
Everett Gilman, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Jobe, and Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Paulson, all of
Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. LaVerne Paulson of Altoona; and Mr. Art Epding of
Wausau.
