Keiner, Mrs. Christ (90th Birthday - 7 September 1966)
A triple birthday
event was observed in Greenwood on Sunday at the home of Mrs. Christ Keiner,

spotlight with two of her daughters, Louise of Greenwood and Mrs. Frederick
(Edith) Gotz of Pittsville, whose birth anniversaries are September 1 and
September 4, respectively. Each of the honorees received gifts and
congratulatory messages.
A large three-tiered decorated birthday cake
centered the table for the dinner served in late afternoon.
Mrs. Keiner,
the former Elise Romang, was born September 7, 1876, in Gsteig, Canton Bern,
Switzerland. She still remembers taking field and mou8ntain trips with her

Keiner and her family came to the United States to Black Creek Falls, now
Athens.
The former Elise Romang and Christ Keiner were married November
22, 1895, in Wausau. They made their home in Athens, until 1920. In 1922 they
moved to Greenwood, where Mr. Keiner and his sons operated a meat market and
grocery store.
Mr. and Mrs. Keiner celebrated their golden wedding
anniversary in 1945. Mr. Keiner passed away May 25, 1946.
Mrs. Keiner
has four daughters, Miss Louise Keiner and Mrs. Hugh (Freda) Severson of
Greenwood, Mrs. Martha C. Corbin of Milwaukee and Mrs. Frederick (Edith) Gotz of
Pittsville; and a son, Carl F. Keiner of Eau Claire. She has 10 grandchildren
and 28 great-grandchildren. A son, Henry Keiner, died in 1962.
Her
hobbies are raising flowers, sewing and scrapbooks.
Present for the
celebration were: Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Gotz of Pittsville; Mr. and Mrs. Bud
Albrecht and Kathryn of Arpin; Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Leberg, Kim, Bruce and Brenda
of Wisconsin Rapids; Miss Carol Severson of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh
