Vogel, Virginia Ruth (Marriage - 27 August 1966)

Virginia Ruth Vogel of St. Paul, Minn., exchanged marriage vows with William Robert Simek of St. Paul and formerly of Neillsville, at ceremonies performed August 27 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in St. Paul. Guests were received for a buffet supper at a Motor Hotel in Minneapolis, followed by music and dancing. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Webster R. Vogel of St. Paul, and Mr. and Mrs. William F. Simek of Neillsville.
Officiating was the Rev. Paul E. Shuessler. Martin L. Mack was organist and Bert Bast, vocalist.

Matron of honor was Mrs. Richard Center of Champaign, Ill., a college classmate of the bride. Bridesmaids were Sandra Weiden of Minneapolis, Shirley Thunhart of St. Paul, and Marjorie Achten of Manhattan, Kans.

Best man was James Simek, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Brian Lien of St. Paul and Abler Mazola and Brian Schmidt of Milwaukee. The ushers were Dennis Brown of River Falls and Thomas Auvinen, a cousin of the bride, of Minneapolis.

Michael Wachholz, cousin of the groom, was ringbearer; and Karen Vogel, cousin of the bride, was flowergirl. Both are from St. Paul.

Grandparents in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Vogel of Minneapolis, and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Wachholz and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Simek of Neillsville.

Out of town guests included: the Milton Auvinen family from Freeport, Ill.; Walter Vogel of Chicago, Ill.; the Gerald Schmidt family, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Prock, Dr. and Mrs. E. H. Brekke, the Walter Brown family, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Olson, the Martin Dettmann family, the Joseph Urban family, Mr. and Mrs. W. Holzhausen, the Jerry Opelt family, all of the Neillsville area; and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Ferguson from Breckenridge, Minn.; the Hilton Wachholz family of Columbus, O.; and the Harold Gault family of Wausau.

Honor assistants at the reception were Mrs. John Zeiss, Miss Ann Sherrill and Miss Carol Krovoza, all of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Kenneth Voorhees, Miss Elaine Wachholz, Miss Darcey Scott and Mis Janet Wolff of St. Paul.

After a wedding trip to the Black Hills and Other sections of South Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. Simek will be at home at 95 North Lexington Parkway, St. Paul. Mrs. Simek, a Macalaster College graduate, is employed by the St. Paul Insurance Companies. Mr. Simek, who ahs completed two years of military service in West Germany, is employed by B. P. Nelson, Food Brokers St. Paul.
