Kolpanen, Gertrude B. (6 APR 1921 - 23 MAY 2012)
Gertrude Bernice
Kolpanen, 91, of Marshfield passed away May 23, 2012 in the Palliative Care Unit
of St. Joseph Hospital Marshfield with her family at her side.
Funeral
services will be held at 3:30pm Saturday, June 9 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in
the Town of Longwood rural Withee. Burial will be in Emmanuel Lutheran Church
Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the church from 2:30 until service time.
Gertrude (Gertie) was born April 6, 1921 to Ernest and Mary (Henschel)
Gosse. She married William Kolpanen and together with their children they farmed
a small parcel of land near the Popple River in the Town of Longwood. After
their youngest son was born they moved to Milwaukee where they lived until 1976
when they moved to Marshfield and retired. Gertie will always be remembered for
her beautiful flowers and garden, her loving heart and her quiet and gentle way.
Survivors include four sons: Billy Kolpanen Jr of Marshfield, John
Kolpanen Owen, Jerome (Dianna) Kolpanen Thorp, and Jeffrey (Cathryn) Kolpanen of
Mosinee; One daughter, Mary Gartmann of Marshfield; Grandchildren; Martin
Wissmueller, Marshfield. John (Keri) Kolpanen Grand Rapids MI, Heather (Ed)
Rosenow Antioch IL, Amanda (Luke) Kraus, Angela Kolpanen and Alex Kolpanen all
of Marshfield. Great-grandchildren; Derrick (D.J.) Kolpanen, Connor and Ethan
Rosenow, Will and Maddy Kraus, Wade Kolpanen. She is further survived by two
brothers; Ed Gosse of Withee, and Lavern Gosse of Appleton.
She is
preceded in death by her husband Bill; brothers Sherman, Gerhardt and Harold
Gosse, and sisters Adeline (Al) Niemi and Margaret (Stan) Wells.
In lieu
of flowers a memorial will be established at a later date. Maurina Funeral Home
of Owen is assisting the family with arrangements.
