Lucille M. Zimmerman, 83, of Owen, passed away on Tuesday,
June 5, 2012 at the Clark County Health Care Center after a short illness.
Lucille Jennings was born on November 1, 1928 in Withee, Wisconsin and
graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1946, after which she worked at her
parent's Windmill Resort, Jim Falls and later, the Sunbeam Tavern, outside of
Chippewa Falls. She married Bob Zimmerman on January 3, 1951 at Holy Ghost
Church in Chippewa Falls. Lucille, Bob and her parents moved to Thorp to run a
dairy farm and the Lombard Tavern on what is now Highway X, three miles east of
Thorp. In 1967, Lucille moved to Owen and began work at the "County Farm" (Clark
County Health Care Center) as a nurse's aide. During her 29 years at the Health
Care Center, she worked in several positions, and rose to the position of
laundry supervisor. After her retirement, she continued to volunteer at the
Health Care Center, taking care of the flower plantings for several years.
Lucille served several terms as Ward 1 alderman in Owen, and recently as a
member of the County Community Services Board. Lucille was an avid gardener and
antique collector, and a frequent eBay user for finding and trading glassware,
ceramics and costume jewelry.
She will be greatly missed by her family
and many friends. Lucille was preceded in death by her father; Stanley Zielanis,
step-father; Berlie Jennings, her mother; Ethel Mattson, and her beloved
husband; Bob Zimmerman.
She is survived by her daughter; Cheryl of
Minneapolis, son; David (Mary) of Medford, and granddaughter; Sarah.
A
visitation will be held on Friday, June 8, 2012, at the Maurina Schilling
Funeral Home in Owen from 4 to 8 PM with a rosary service at 7:00 PM. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Holy Rosary Catholic
Church in Owen at 10:30 AM, with a visitation from 9:30 AM until the time of
service at the church.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established
at a later date.
The Maurina Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the
family with arrangements.
