Marden, Mr./Mrs.William#3(57th Anniversary. -30 August 1953)
Mr. and Mrs. William Marden were honored at an 8 p.m. service and an open
house in the Grace Methodist Church Sunday evening in observance of their 57th
wedding anniversary.
Fifty-four relatives and friends attended the service
and later greeted the honored couple at the reception held in the church
basement.
Special music was provided during the service with Charles Ivey accompanist.
At the reception Misses Carol and Gladys Drew sand “The Lord is My Shepherd,:
Miss Nettie Miller sand and accompanied herself on the guitar, and Mrs. E. Elmer
sang a solo, “I Must Have My Savior With Me.” The program also included group
singing.
The dining tables were decorated with vases of cut flowers when the potluck
lunch was served.
William Marden was born in Lloyd on March 22, 1875, and his wife, the former
Daisy Hale, was born July 21, 1880 in Lime Ridge, Sauk County. He came to Clark
County when five years old and she has been a resident here since she was 11
years of age. On Sept. 1, 1896, they were married in Hewettville and lived in
Neillsville before coming to Greenwood 38 years ago. Mr. Marden has been a
jeweler for the past half century.
