St. Hedwig’s Chapel, Thorp, was the scene for the 10 o’clock wedding of Miss Alice Giwojna, Thorp, and Richard Lee Strasser, Stevens Point, on June 24, 1961. The couple’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. John F. Giwojna, Thorp, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Strasser, Stevens Point. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Edward Masalewicz and music was provided by Sister Mary Geraldine at the organ, and the choir girls sang. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a full length gown of Chantilly lace of taffeta. It was styled with scoop neckline , three-quarter length sleeves trimmed with pearls, satin bow at the waistline, and featured a full hoop skirt. Her fingertip veil was held in place by a double crown circle with points trimmed with pearls. She carried a cascade arrangement of pink and white carnations.

Maid of honor was Miss Karen Giwojna, Eau Claire, and bridesmaids were Miss Michalene Romanowich, Wausau, and Mrs. Susan Newby, Stevens Point. Miss Giwojna wore aqua, while the other attendants wore pale pink ballerina length gowns of two-tone silk organza. The dresses were V-necklines and featured full length side drapes on bouffant skirts with deep hems. The bodices were rose trimmed and headpieces with short veils to match their gowns were worn. They carried colonial bouquets of white carnations.

The groom’s attendants were Mark J. Edbauer, Merrill, best man, and Ronald Newby, Stevens point, groomsman.

Wedding day events included a dinner, reception and supper at Wink Inn in Thorp.

Mrs. Strasser is a graduate of St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Marshfield. She is presently employed at Drs. Ghein and Erickson Clinic in Stevens Point.

The groom attended Central State College at Stevens Point, where he was a member of Tau Kappa epsilon Fraternity, and is presently employed at the Point Sporting Goods Co. in Stevens Point, where, after a wedding trip to Canada, the couple will make their home.
