Jonas Ayer Injured At Home Sunday
Was Taken to Marshfield Hospital,
where He Is Now Receiving Treatment for Broken Ribs and Bruises
Jonas
Ayer, well known resident of Spencer, was seriously injured early Sunday morning
when he fell down the stairway at his home and suffered broken ribs and bruises.
He was taken to St. Joseph hospital in the ambulance shortly after the accident
where he is receiving treatment. Mr. Ayer closed his tavern Sunday morning at
1:00 o’clock and went to his home. He had gone to his room and retired when he
heard a noise in the rear of his tavern, believing someone was trying to start
his car which was parked in the yard. He did not turn on the lights in the home
and some way stumbled and fell down 10 steps of the stairway when he went to
investigate. Dr. Callahan was called, and it was found he had broken all the
ribs on one side of his body, and had received bruises. Report from the hospital
shows that Mr. Ayer is resting as well as can be expected, considering the
nature of his injury.
