McGonigal, Frank (09 DEC 1884-24 MAR 1960)

Frank J. McGonigal, 75, Loyal, died of pneumonia in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 17, having been a patient there for 17 days.

He was born at Bay City, Michigan, December 9, 1884.

When a young man he moved to Minocqua with his parents where he attended grade school. His high school education he received at Northland Academy in Ashland. He came with his parents to Loyal in 1904.He attended St. Thomas College at St. Paul from which he graduated with a degree in Business Administration. He returned to Loyal and was employed in the Doyle and McGonigal Hardware Store. Upon the death of Mr. Doyle he went into partnership with his father, James McGonigal, in the hardware business. In 1944, he retired. He was married to Mae Wiric in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, June 25, 1913. She survives him.

He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal, and funeral services were conducted there at 1-:00 a.m. Monday morning by the Rev. Norbert King. Burial was in the parish cemetery. A general rosary was held at the Myre Funeral Home at 8 p.m. Sunday.

Two sisters died in infancy, his father died in 1950.

Pallbearers for the funeral were, Romane Rossow, Julius Nystad, William Theisen, Sr., Bert Brown, Lawrence Davel, and William Beaver.

Those from away who came for the services were Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Larson, Hopkins, Minn., and Mrs. Agnes Drake and grandson, Jeffrey Gaier, Duluth.
