Herman William
Stange, 88, died in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, Saturday, April 23, at 4
a.m. where he had been a patient following a stroke two weeks ago.
Herman
Stange was born at Iron Ridge, Dodge County, Wisconsin, Feb. 14, 1872. He came
to the farm home, two and one-fourth miles north of Loyal when he was two years
old. His father homesteaded this land and he spent his entire life on it.
He was married to Bertha Neuman at Trinity Lutheran Church Sept. 19, 1899.
She died Dec. 16, 1959.
He served as supervisor of the Sunny Knoll school
board from 1908 to 1925 and as supervisor of the town board of Beaver for 20
years.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and burial services
were conducted there at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery.
Rev. Virgil Ganz conducted the services. The body which rested in state at the
Myre Funeral Home, was taken to the church at noon on the day of the funeral.
Mr. Stange is survived by four sons, Jerome at home, Herbert of Milwaukee,
Alois of Athens, and Albert of Wausau, and by one daughter, Marie at home. Four
grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Louie of Loyal and
Otto of Greenwood also survive.
One brother and four sisters preceded him
in death.
