Andrews, George (28
December 1878 - 23 October 1966)
George Andrews, 88, died Sunday at the
Ridgeview Nursing Home in Black River Falls, where he had resided for the last
three weeks. He had been in failing health for several years.
He was born
at Fond du Lac on December 28, 1878, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Andrews. He
married Mary Ann Strozewski in 1903. He had been a resident of Merrillan over 70
years.
His wife and a son Elrich preceded him in death.
Survivors are: six daughters, Mrs. Vida Butterfield of Merrillan, Mrs. Ed
(Pearl) Emstron, Perkinstown, Mrs. Will (Eva) Sachman of Athens, Mrs. William
(Ruby) Phillips of Eau Claire, Mrs. Henry (Marcella) Flicek of Alma Center, and
Mrs. Art (Jeannette) Hurits of New Auburn; five sons, Claude Andrews, Elwood
Andrews of Maiden Rock, Robert of Necedah, Raymond of Milwaukee and George, Jr.,
of North Carolina; 43 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
Services
were to be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Merrillan Methodist Church, with the
Rev. Calvin Carey officiating. Interment was to be made in Oakwood Cemetery at
Merrillan. Friends called at the Jensen Funeral home at Hixton on Tuesday
afternoon and evening and at the church prior to the service.
