Mrs. A. Schwantes Passes Away Sunday
Funeral Services Were Held At Trinity Lutheran Church Wednesday Afternoon for Well Known Lady.

Mrs. August Schwantes, aged 64 years, a well known lady of this community, who suffered a paralytic stroke about a year ago, died early Sunday morning at the home of her son and daughterinlaw, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Schwantes, four and a half miles west of Spencer. The body was brought to the Swarthout Funeral Home in Spencer.

Mrs. Schwantes, nee Helen Cammers, was born in Two Rivers on October 11, 1878, and when a child came to Spokeville with her parents. She was married January 16, 1898, to August Schwantes of Spencer, who preceded her in death Sept. 20, 1936. After living on a farm west of Spencer for 45 years, she moved to Spencer, where she suffered a paralytic stroke Jan. 22, 1942, and was taken to St. Joseph hospital in Marshfield for treatment. For the past month she had been at her son’s home.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Otto (Laura) Monthe of Unity and Mrs. George (Myrtle) Greeler of Spencer; two sons, Emil of Spencer and Alvin of Loyal; a sister, Mrs. Ed. Young of Spokeville and a brother, Arthur Cammers of Spokeville. One son preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:40 o’clock at the Swarthout Funeral Home and at 2:00 o’clock at the Trinity Lutheran church, the Rev. A. C. Stapel officiating. Interment was made in the North Lutheran cemetery. The deceased was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church and the Ladies’ Aid society.
