Millard, Vern (29 MAR 1881-16 MAY 1960)

Funeral services for Vern Millard, 79, will be held at the Myre Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 19, (today) and burial will be in the Loyal Cemetery. The Rev. Virgil Holmes of Neillsville Methodist Church.

Vern Millard was born at Mauston March 29, 1881. He was married to Iva Clawson at New Lisbon March 20, 1906. He spent his early years in Mauston and was a farmer there until 1916 when he moved to a farm in the town of York, Clark County. In 1942 he retired and moved to the city of Loyal where he lived until his death. For seven years he was janitor at the Citizen’s Bank, Loyal.

He was a member of the Methodist Church.

He had a stroke on March 27th from which he didn’t recover and this with other old age complications, caused his death at the Clark County Hospital, Owen at 11:39 a.m. Monday, May 16.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. J. V. (Louise) Smith of Arpin, Miss Ardis Millard of Madison, and Mrs. Ardis Paulson of Loyal; by one son, Verland of Marshfield; by 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; five brothers, William of New Lisbon, Bert of Lake Geneva, Irwin of Mauston, and Ernest and Herb of St. Charles, Minn.; and by three sisters, Mrs. Victor Patterson and Mrs. Hazel Bedell, Mauston and Mrs. Erwin McCullom of Beloit.

Two brothers preceded him in death.
