Darton, Donna Lou (04 JUNE 1960)

At 12 o’clock noon Saturday, June 4th in the Trinity Lutheran Church at Loyal, the Reverands Robert Langseth and Virgil Ganz officiated at the double ring ceremony in which the former Donna Lou Darton became Mrs. Lynn C. Lawrenz. The ceremony united the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Darton and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lawrenz, all of Loyal.

Vern Dahlby, accompanied by Miss Jeanette Noeldner at the organ, sang “Today Oh Lord” and “The Lord’s Prayer”. As the bride was escorted to the altar by her father, she wore a floor length gown of tiers of French imported lace and pleated nylon tulle over crystallette. The fitted bodice was styled with a scalloped Sabrina neckline and short sleeves. Her matching lace edged tulle veil fell from a headpiece of lace which was edged with pearls and tear-drops. She carried an all white heart shaped bouquet which was comprised of a white orchid surrounded by roses, carnations, swansonia and streamers of lilies of the valley.

The bride chose Mrs. Merlin Bender, her sister, to be her maid of honor. Miss Myrna Moede, cousin of the groom, Miss Verna Welk, Marshfield, friend of the bride and Miss Lana Lawrenz, Algoma, cousin of the groom served as bridesmaids. Marjean Bender, neice of the bride was junior bridesmaid.

The attendants donned ballerina length gowns of embroidered silk organza over fortuna taffeta and ruffles of nylon net. The neckline featured a pleated drape of nylon organza. Their headpieces were of nylon net and organza with a feather trim. They carried matching fans which displayed a spray of white and tinted carnations. Their matching shoes and tinted pearls, a gift of the bride, completed their attire. The matron of honor and junior bridesmaid gowns were of shrimp color while the bridesmaids were of zircon blue.

The groom was attended by Merlin Bender, Loyal, as best man, Harold Sisel, Green Bay, Richard Ohlrogge, La Crosse, and Lon Lawrenz, Loyal, brother of the groom as groomsmen. Denny Bender, nephew of the bride was junior groomsman. George Brenner, Loyal and William Ihenfeldt, Kewaunee, served as ushers.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, after which a 4:00 dinner was served to 200 guests at the Trinity Lutheran dining hall. The day’s festivities were climaxed with a dance at the Kolby Park Pavilion. The couple will honeymoon in Colorado and Arizona. The groom, who is a graduate of the Loyal High School and Stout State College, Menominee, is presently employed by the Board of Education of Algoma, Wisconsin as an Industrial Arts teacher. The bride is a graduate of the Loyal High School and is employed in the office of the superintendent of schools, Marshfield.
