Biddle, Frank Herland (25 May
1915 - 12 June 2012)
Frank H. Biddle, age 97, of Thorp, passed away at
St. Joseph’s Hospital, in Marshfield, on Tuesday, June 12, 2012. Funeral
services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Thorp Funeral
Home, in Thorp. Rev. Bob Love officiated and burial followed in Sylvan Cemetery
in the Town of Reseburg. Pallbearers were: Mark Biddle, Ted Tabbert, Dion
Moskiewicz, Trent Moskiewicz, Larry Biddle and Ron Witt. Visitation was held at
Thorp Funeral Home, on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service.
Frank Herland Biddle was born on May 25, 1915, in the Town of Reseburg,
rural Thorp, the son of Richard and Lillian (Newhouse) Biddle. He was raised on
the family farm and received his education at Reseburg School. Frank was united
in marriage to Julia Fillo on December 31, 1934, in Boyd. They farmed south of
Thorp for a couple years, and then moved to Milwaukee where Frank worked for
Western Leather. After two years in Milwaukee, they returned to Thorp and farmed
in the Town of Mead. During his time on the farm, Frank also worked in the CCC
Camps, for Plauz Brothers, in Greenwood doing road construction, and was a
mechanic for 10 years at Winiarczyk Ford Garage in Thorp. After retiring, Frank
continued to live on the farm until the time of his death. He had many
interests, but especially loved spending time with his family and friends,
hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Julia, of Thorp; two
children: Clarence “Jim” (Shirley) Biddle of Thorp, and Betty (Dennis)
Moskiewicz of Thorp; four grandchildren: Dawn (Ted) Tabbert and Mark (Jean)
Biddle, both of Greenville, WI, Trent (Stephanie) Moskiewicz of Medford, and
Dion (Suzi) Moskiewicz of Eagle; seven great-grandchildren: Krista (Christian)
Johnston, Therese, Sam and Gianna Tabbert, Harley, Hope and Jacob Moskiewicz.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Richard Jr.,
John, Andrew, Dennis and Willie Biddle; and five sisters: Clara Biddle, Elsie
Witt, Johanna Bowman, Florence Heiser and Rose DeWirth.
