Mrs. Ben Chris of La Porte, Ind., who has been visiting her
sister, Mrs. Charles Knaack, in Owen, has returned home. She was accompanied by
Mrs. Knaack, who is planning an extended visit in La Porte.
C. E. Beck of
Owen spent a weekend in Madison with his son, Prof. Galen Beck, and family.
Col. and Mrs. Howard Russel of Deal, N. J., were guests several days
recently of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Barager of Owen.
One day the Russels and Mrs. Barager visited Emma Wiles at her summer home on
Round Lake.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Laabs and Mr. and Mrs. Roland Knecht and
son of Owen were guests recently of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Wachsmuth and family of
Arlington Heights, Ill.
Mr. and Mrs. Unar Andersen and family of Mauston
have been guests for several days of their parents, Sam Andersen and Helga, and
Mrs. Anna Sorensen, of Withee.
A special meeting of St. John’s Ladies
Aid of Withee was held in observance of the Aid’s 45th anniversary. For the
occasion, a special program was held, which included skits and poems. Two
charter members, Mrs. John Zasoba and Mrs. Minna Engel, were present.
Mr.
and Mrs. Edgar Alberts of Withee are on a week’s visit to Huntsville, Ala., with
their son, Darrell Alberts and family.
Recent weekend guests at the Ed
Fredrick home in Withee were Mr. and Mrs. George Fredrick and daughter of
Wheaton, Ill. Mrs. Arthur Klabon of Chicago, Ill., who had been visiting at the
Fredrick home in Withee, accompanied the guests’ home.
SP/4 Lynn Nevala
has returned to Warrenton, VA., following a 12-day leave spent with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Nevala, in Withee.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Peissig of Ft.
Morgan, Colo., have been spending their vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Emery Peissig, in Curtiss. Don expects to be called into service soon.
Rev. Roger Tellock of Curtiss returned from Minneapolis, Minn., where he
attended a convention.
Mrs. Ida Schiszik spent several days in Chicago
and Berwyn, Ill., with her sons and other relatives.
Harold Reishus and
sons, Harold, Jr., and John, have returned Curtiss from a 10-day hunting trip to
Canada. They returned with two large moose. Mrs. Reishus visited her mother in
Indiana while the men were hunting.
Miss Marie Sincula of Chicago, Ill.,
was a recent weekend guest at the Val Wyczawski home in Thorp.
Mr. and
Mrs. Richard Oldroyd of Clear Lake, who recently attended a teacher’s convention
in Eau Claire, spent a weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Oldroyd, in Thorp.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Brunett and Mrs. Leona
Burnett of Thorp were recent guests of Mrs. Attillia Haling in Superior. Enroute
home they visited Mr. and Mrs. Bert Klinzing in Solon Springs.
Jim
Fisher and son of Milwaukee were overnight guests at the W. E. Vanderhyden home
in Thorp.
Mrs. and Mrs. Henry Hicks of Rosemead, Cal. were recent evening
guests at the Louis Badzinski home in Thorp.
Sammie Borowski of Milwaukee
was a recent weekend visitor at his home in Thorp. He was accompanied to
Milwaukee by Mrs. Borowski, Mrs. Harry Witt, Mrs. Andrew Biddle and Bonnie
Borowski, who attended funeral services there for a brother-in-law.
