Smigaj, Ruth M. (5 AUG
1961)
Miss Ruth M. Smigaj, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) became the wife of
Marvin R. Ammentorp, Withee, in a double ring ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Aug.
5th, 1961 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church at Thorp.
Parents of the
newlyweds are: Mr. and Mrs. Roman Smigaj, Thorp, and Mrs. Caroline Ammentorp,
Withee. The bride’s mother wore a navy blue dress with beige accessories. The
groom’s mother wore a navy blue dress with white accessories. Both wore a
corsage of pink and white carnations.
Rev. Herbert Hoffman united them in
Holy Matrimony. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Miss Susan
Krammer, Withee, accompanied Mrs. Ted Meyer, Thorp, as she sang “Ave Maria.”
White gladiolas decorated the altar. Bouquets of summer snowballs were also
placed on the altar rail.
Chantilly lace formed the bodice of the bride’s
dress with a Sabrina neckline and three-quarter length sleeves. The full
ballerina skirt was fashioned of silk organza over taffeta and net highlighted
with a bow at the waistline.
An English imported silk illusion veil fell
from a diamond crown of pearls accented at each diamond point with aurora
borealis.
She carried a colonial bouquet of white roses accented with
five pink tea roses and white stephanotis.
Miss Theresa Sirek, Eau
Claire, was bridesmaid, wearing a mint green dress of chiffon over taffeta with
a Sabrina neckline. A headpiece of pleated chiffon attached with a pressed bow
fit snuggly on her head. She carried a colonial bouquet of white Fugi mums.
John Smigaj, Minocqua, Wis., was best man. The groom and best man wore white
dinner jackets with black slacks and cummerbunds.
Ushers were James
Ammentorp, Chicago, and Sid Sorensen, Withee.
An afternoon reception was
held at the Woodland Hotel, Owen.
The couple will make their home in
Withee.
