Stevens, Dona Lea (25 JUNE 1960)

The Loyal Methodist Church was the scene of an 8 p.m. candlelight wedding ceremony on Saturday, June 25th uniting Miss Dona Lee Stevens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Stevens, Spencer and Andrew J. Balciar, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Balciar, Medford.

The Rev. Warren Henderson of Spencer performed the nuptial rotes while Mrs. Henderson accompanied on the organ for Darlene Ploman who sang “Tenderly” and “Wither Thou Goest.”

Guests came from Wis. Rapids, Medford, Phillips, Withee, Granton, Spencer, Chili, Milwaukee, Marshfield, Appleton, Greenwood, Unity, Rockford, Ill., Rochester, Minn., Riverside, Calif.; and Loyal to view the ceremony and attend a reception which followed. Two hundred were served later at dinner.

The bride chose a gown of alencon lace with tulle featuring a lace bodice and long sleeves, a Sabrina neckline, a full chapel length skirt with vertical lace panels and alternating flounces of lace and net cascading down to form a sweeping outline at the side and back. She carried a bouquet of red roses, white glads and stephanotis.

Miss Sharon Rohloff of Spencer, a cousin of the bride, was the maid of honor while other attendants were LeOra Schlinsog, another cousin; Marie Balciar, a sister of the groom, and Patti Brett, a friend. They wore waltz length gowns of white nylon which were trimmed with green, pink, yellow and blue cummerbunds. A white nylon crown trimmed in seed pearls provided their headdress. Each carried a nosegay of tinted carnations.

Carl Balciar, a brother of the groom, was the best man while groomsmen included Gerald Balciar, cousin of the groom; Glen Emmerich, and Tony Bezlyk, both friends of the groom. The men were attired in tuxedos as was the ring bearer, Eddie Stevens, a cousin of the bride. Carol Bruggie, a niece of the groom was the flower girl.

Ushering was done by Steve Schlinsog, a cousin of the bride and Don Bruggie, a brother-in-law of the groom.

The bride is a 1957 graduate of the Loyal High School and a 1960 graduate of Medford Teachers College. The groom attended Medford High School and is employed as a mechanic in that city.

Following a two week honeymoon to Yellowstone Park, the couple will reside in Medford.

The bride’s mother attended in a flowered lavender nylon dress wearing a white rose corsage. The groom’s mother chose a flowered blue nylon decorated with a white rose corsage also.
